Your student email is important!

You need to check your University email account regularly to make sure you’re not missing out on important information.

Your student email is an integral channel of communication, not just between you and your tutors, but it is the way the Library will contact you regarding your Library account information.

If you’re a new student did you know you can set up your student email account on your devices? If you previously had a University Gmail account you’ll need to update your devices to ensure they now access Outlook.

Our IT Support pages offer advice on how to do this, plus information about forwarding your University emails to another account if you prefer to do that.

There are some handy FAQs to help troubleshoot any problems you might have. Don’t forget you can Contact Us if you need more help – we offer IT support 24/7.

Follow us on Facebook and Twitter, and join the Distance Learning Community (if you haven’t already!) for updates, news and information.

Enjoy the view!

20160121_120333Here is the view from the Offsite office on this cold January day! The big white building in the centre of the photo is Leeds University library which makes this a good opportunity to remind you that as Leeds Beckett University students you can use other university libraries across the UK as part of the SCONUL scheme. Information on how to join is available here and we have even produced a handy video to guide you through the process. Confirmation of your SCONUL membership will be emailed to your student email address, it is important to check this account regularly please see our website for more information. As ever your friendly Offsite team are available to answer any questions you might have so please get in touch!

Managing your student email account

It is really important that you check your student email account on a regular basis as this is how the university will communicate with you. This is because your student email address is secure and doesn’t change, please see the library website for further information on how to access your student emails. As distance learners we appreciate that many of you are juggling work and studies at the same time so a handy time saving tip would be to set up a forward from your student email account to your personal email account as this will save you time and ensure that you don’t miss any important emails. Information on how to do that is available here. Please contact your friendly Offsite team if you need any help setting this up.

Welcome to 2015/16!

We hope you’ve all had a fabulous, relaxing and reviving summer.

Monday 21st September is the start of Welcome and Induction Week, greeting new and returning students to the academic year, with Semester 2 starting in earnest on Monday 28th September.

The Offsite team, and all of the Library staff, are ready and waiting to help you settle in, and would like to welcome you whether you are a new or returning student.

For those of you who occasionally visit the Library in person, you may have noticed that there is some refurbishment work underway. The second floor of the Library is currently closed, though it is due to re-open soon!

This means that some of the book stock has been temporarily re-shelved and this may result in a very slight delay in sending out books which you have placed on hold. We apologise for this, and will continue to send out books to you as quickly as possible. We will always email your student email if we have any queries about your request, and to confirm when we have sent a book. Please do get in touch if you can’t remember how to log on, or if you have forgotten your password, or if you need a quick refresher on how to check your student email, or indeed if you have any other queries. Our contact details are shown on the Offsite homepage – you can email us, phone us, chat with us or check out our blog.

We’re looking forward to supporting your learning!
