Some good news!

bookshelfWhen you’ve borrowed items from the Library, the time can pass really quickly and so the Library system sends out emails to student email addresses 3 days before Library due dates, as a reminder to either renew or return your items.

However, for distance learners who have borrowed books, the Offsite team have realised that 3 days isn’t that long to get down to your local post office to return items by post. So, for all items sent out by the Offsite team, the email reminders now go out an extra two days earlier, meaning that for items which we send out to students registered with Offsite, the reminders will be emailed to student email accounts 5 days in advance of the due date.

It’s also possible to renew your items online – log in to the Library catalogue using your usual MyBeckett login details, then go to the self-service tab and Renew my Materials. The Library has also produced a short video on how to renew your loans. Remember that, if you are unable to renew any items, you will need to return them by the due date.

For people who prefer to manage everything through one email account, you can also forward your student email to an alternative email address of your choice, please see these instructions.

And if you’d like an alternative to borrowing print books, you might like to check out the Library’s collection of eBooks. Why not take a look at the Library webpages on eBooks for FAQ’s about eBooks, news about the collections and notes on how to personalise the on-screen appearance of eBooks.

You can also contact Offsite at any time if you have any queries – we’re always delighted to hear from students!

CHECK OUT HOW YOU CAN MAKE EBOOKS MORE ACCESSIBLE!

A new Accessibility page has been added to the eBooks guide on the Library website. The page features FAQs explaining how you can make eBooks more accessible, including instructions for each different platform on changing the text size, changing the font and background colours, and having eBooks read aloud.

As a Distance Learner you may be a regular user of eBooks and find these handy tips helpful for your studies.
