If you’re planning to visit us in person, the Library will be open 24/7. Please see our Opening Hours page for details of when staff will be available to help. Also please be aware that refurbishment work is taking place in the Library over the summer, so please ask Library staff if you need any help finding books.

Those of you who visit the Library in person may be interested to know that following the 2014 refurbishment of the third floor of Sheila Silver Library, work continues during Summer/early Autumn 2015 to develop the second floor.
By November this floor will provide:
- An improved study environment with a similar design and colour scheme to the third floor
- A central support hub including printers
- New IT labs
- Another Postgraduate Research Room
- A separate silent study area
- Plug and USB ports at the study spaces
- Student Meeting Rooms
- Bookstock 600-799
The Library will remain open 24/7 and staffed as usual throughout, with existing services and study spaces available in temporary locations. Books will be located throughout the Library during the move so please ask staff for help or pick up a leaflet to find out where they are.
Headingley Library Changes
Refurbishment of three IT teaching labs in the Headingley Library will also take place this summer. Rooms 219, 221, and 225b will be refurbished in a style similar to the labs refurbished in 2014.
Each lab will provide the required 25 seat minimum for teaching labs and will have new furniture and fittings.
The Language Resources Area currently located on the ground floor of the Library will move to the first floor over the summer. It will be renamed the Language Advice Service. It will still include a collection of resources to support language study and an office in which students can work with the Carnegie Faculty’s Senior Learning Officer individually.
